"I am Inês Mauad, science teacher from Minas Gerais School, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have students in 7, 8 and 9 grade levels.
Their ages are between 11 and 15 years old. I totally love my work! I am passionate about our planet and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with students.
I participate with my students the Astronomy Olympics in Brazil since 1998, and we already got 1 golden medal, 8 silver medals and 12 bronze medals.
It is really a challenger because, there more than 22.000 participants.
I am working with them this year projects around DENGUE, a tropic fever, that ever summer makes a lot of children ill in our country, mostly in our city.
The project name is Dengue; Combating the Villains! We use to make newspapers and give them when we go visiting the school’s neighbors.
We also have a garden that we use to make some experiments growing ma ny spices.
Precipitation is very important for all of us to understand and I would like to increase my knowledge in science, implement GLOBE initiatives. In addition, to learn ways to share this information with all of my grade levels so they can be more conscious about all this environment problems.
